Swelling occurs in certain parts of the body, especially in the hands and feet. From time to time, you may not be able to wear your jewelry or wear shoes due to swelling. These are the symptoms of edema in the body ( 1 ).

In order to treat edema, it is first necessary to determine which condition is causing the edema. If the edema is due to the disease; You should decide on the treatment of edema together with a specialist. Edema, which is more effective especially in hot weather, can also be a symptom of serious diseases such as kidney and liver diseases and cardiovascular problems ( 2 ).

Less water consumption, excess carbohydrate intake, abundant salty eating habits, magnesium and vitamin B6 deficiencies, menstruation and menopause also cause edema. Edema due to nutrition; The habit of consuming less water can be developed by the consumption of ready-made foods, meat / chicken broth tablets, pickles, canned foods, excessive salt consumption and salt-rich foods, snacks such as chips and refined sugar. Sugar, in particular, is a nutrient that needs great attention as it requires a lot of water to digest.
